Luke Garrett will be singing in both worship services Sunday, Feb. 21^
Garrett's roots in Christian music go back to a small church in Coweta, Oklahoma, where he made a decision for Christ at an early age. He experienced a turning point in his spiritual life when, while attending UCLA, he won the Frank Sinatra Performance Award for most popular vocalist. At that time, Luke recognized the Lord's calling on his life and His commission to use his voice for the glory of God.
Luke graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in history. Shortly thereafter his family moved to Texas where he served on the music staff of First Baptist Church, Dallas. He has written and co-written numerous songs. His music has been recorded by various artists such as The Imperials and the Gold City Quartet.  He has sung for numerous Presidents, various denominational national conventions, evangelism conferences, various charities and prison ministries and has sung at First Baptist Denton with our choir and orchestra several times!

Children's Ministry ^
February L.I.F.E. This Sunday, 2/14, Dr. Jeff's sermon series emphasizes the importance Involvement! How can you be involved? On the Children's floor, one way is by being counted. Being here on Sunday morning for a L.I.F.E. class with your family in tow. Another way is by volunteering and learning the needs of your child's KidzL.I.F.E. class and worship experience. Yet a third way is being involved in our Children's social life where you meet your friends and neighbors to pray with and share with your successes or needs for your kidz in a God driven circle of supporters! Come this Sunday and learn what INVOLVEMENT can mean to you as Dr. Jeff brings this message!!

L.I.F.E.: Learning, Involvement, Fellowship, Evangelism. This emphasis leads up to High Attendance Sunday on March 7th, when our kidz will bring a friend or neighbor and have a great time dressing alike for "Twin Day!" on the Children's floor. Our teachers are encouraged to contact each child each week throughout the month of February. Come join us, be involved in our Children's Ministry! Contact Pastor Chris at ext. 131 or Chris.Barfield@firstdenton.org !

February 14th- A Sunday Valentine's Day Party at the CLC~~ 5:45-8:00 pm RSVP. Great fun! Skate, ice cookies, movie and pizza! Cost: $2 We need some volunteers to make this happen for our kidz. Come show a little love! WE NEED YOUR RSVP BY THURSDAY, 2/11, TO PLAN FOOD Children whose parents are attending the banquet may remain for childcare from 8:00-9:00 pm also by RSVP. Want to get INVOLVED? AWANA Weds., 6-7:30 pm. We have a great children's program called A.W.A.N.A. The purpose of AWANA is to train the future saints. We do this by encouraging scripture memorization and providing council time. We are looking for devoted adults to help us with this task. You will not have to prepare a lesson because the children rotate through a council time, a game time, and a handbook time. All you will have to do is help them work through their handbooks, learn their verses, and get them to the various activities on time. We have age groups from 2 years to 12 years of age, so we can put you with an age group you will be comfortable with. We will provide you with training to help maximize your impact with the children. This program has and will continue to impact the church in amazing ways. Would you consider being part of this program?
If you would like to help by listening to verses, doing crafts or playing games, contact Scott Herring (382-9203) for further information. There were 93 kidz learning to live for Christ last Wednesday! AWANA needs your smile and willing heart! Time to purchase AWANA Grand Prix Cars $4.00 Race is April 3.

Special Needs Ministry ^
We would like to expand our ministry to individuals who are disabled and we need your help!  Two ways that you can help in this ministry are:
1.) You will want to inform us of individuals whom you know that are disabled, whatever the disability may be, so we can explore ways, with their input, that we can better minister to them.
2.) We need volunteers to help us on Sundays and possibly Saturday evenings.  We need “buddies” to go along side our special friends at church to make sure their needs are met in our regular programs.  We also need “buddies” to work with those who not able to participate in our regular activities but are still very much a part of the church.
If you feel that God is leading you to work in this very rewarding ministry you will want to contact me in the church office, 940-382-2577 ext 121 or my cell phone, 214-542-0489. Jim Markle (jimm@firstdenton.org) .
