Today, we sit peacefully in our church pews not having to worry that someone will run in the sanctuary and call for a bucket brigade or to tell us that the bank just got robbed by bad guys. We have a sense of peace and security because our firefighters, as well as the county and city law enforcement, are on the job 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Adopting a firefighter or police officer is easy and fun! You pick a last name from a book located in the church office. They put his/her name on a card for you and give you a refrigerator magnet to hold the card. When you are moved to do so, you choose a card from the holder next to the little house mailbox located next to the entrance of the church library. Write a few encouraging words and drop in the little lighthouse mailbox and off it goes to encourage a firefighter or cop who may be alone in the night working to keep you in peace and safety.
