The brush stroke of a paint brush, the smell of freshly cut grass, the scoops full of rice and beans, the taste of a grape snow cone at the community block party, deliveries of treats to first responders, the zip of a ziplock snack bag, 3 Denton schools looking cleaner and brighter, and the wiping of sweat from several brows. That was First Loves Denton. In total 45-50 projects done in the name of our Jesus. All of these deeds showing relentless love to the city God has entrusted to us. First Loves Denton Day was a beautiful picture of our Jesus on Sunday, May 5. Jesus provided for the needs of those around Him. He fed growling stomachs before the next sermon began. He healed the lame and blind before He would go to His next destination. He would raise a friend from the dead and then continue on His way.
We thank our Lord for the gift of our city and pray that we will continue to see the needs of those around us and that we will take time, like Jesus did, to pause, take note, pray, and serve. Paul even urges us in Romans 12 that the truest and most proper form of worship is that of sacrificial service. Thank you for joining us in worship last Sunday.
Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
