Slow Down and Reflect

July 9, 2018

One of the characteristics of modern life seems to be that we are moving at an ever-increasing rate. Let’s be honest, it is rather easy to be busy. We all can make a list of tasks that will overwhelm our daily lives. In recent weeks, I have had the opportunity to slow down and get away. In early June, my wife and I got away for a week and enjoyed a vacation with one of our daughters and her husband at Zion National Park in Utah, and just this past week, we got away for a few days in the hill country to hike and browse through a few antique shops in Salado and Georgetown. By ‘getting away’ from a fast pace, I began to think about the importance of reflecting. God has been reminding me of the importance “to be still and know that He is God.”

One definition of reflect is to “think deeply or carefully about something.”  God is teaching me the importance of slowing down and reflecting on Him and the grace He has poured out into my life.

Here are three lessons God is teaching me about REFLECTING

  1. Reflecting encourages me to slow down.
  2. Reflecting allows me to hear from God.
  3. Reflecting helps me to place Jesus first in my life.

Have you taken time to slow down this summer? What may need to change in your life for Jesus to become your first priority? I encourage you to carve out some time and slow the pace of your life. Reflect on what God has done for you and make Him the first priority in your life.
