What Do We Do About Halloween?

October 30, 2018

Hello friends! As you read this, last minute sales of candy, costumes, and pumpkins are ringing up in the stores all around Denton. As Christians, we must be intentional about our actions this Halloween. That means we must explain to our children and nieces and nephews and grandchildren that some people desire to focus on the spooky & scary. But, as my Mother would say, we know and believe the truth that “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it!” Psalm 118:24.

I believe that October 31st is just another day that we have been given by God to respond to the Great Commission found in Mark 16:15: “Go into all the world and preach the good news to everyone.”

On Halloween, we don’t have to GO anywhere. People will actually walk up to YOUR door. Yes, they are there for candy and treats, but we have the opportunity to show the love of God to those who come to our door.

Please consider involving your children in this activity and have them attach a church invite card or Gospel tract to the Candy Bar and to greet the children who come to your door with a “Hello and God Bless you”.

We are a blessed people of God that every day is a day the Lord has made and we can rejoice in it.
