1. 2.3. Eyes on Me.
If you have ever been a preschool helper, teacher, leader, or even a fly on the wall in the classroom, you know that catching the preschooler’s attention is a big deal. “1. 2. 3. Eyes on Me” is a perfect way to stop them in their tracks and point their attention back to you.
How does God get your attention?
I have certain things throughout my day that make me stop in my tracks and bring my focus back to the Father.
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” John 15:1-4
If we don’t stop and listen to God calling out “1. 2.3. Eyes on Me,” we will not be constant in remaining in Him. We teach preschoolers to freeze (stop), eyes on me (look up at your leader) and listen to what the leader has to say. The Leader’s job is to train, protect, and comfort. This is what God does for us. So ultimately, we are not much different than a 3-year-old. Remain in God’s Word and recite it often. Listen to God when He comes to you in the middle of the day. Bearing good fruit will be your outcome.
